How to Succeed in the Publishing Game by V. Stringer & M. McPherson / 127 pages. Read in 12 days

This how-to publishing guide was one of the best I have yet to find. It was one that touched all areas of curiosity when it comes to learning how to make it as a publisher. Vickie actually breaks down the ins and outs of starting a publishing company. In the same sense, she also gives her readers’ ideas of how they can actually go about publishing just one book. This book covered a lot of information and the topics varied from, how to go about getting grants to learning what an ISBN is, what LCCN stands for, what copyright laws are important in regards to publishing, where to place your books bar code to the differences between binding and printing your book. Vickie shared tips on how to re-act to customers who are interested in purchasing a back order book, etc… Stringer also explained how book distribution companies works and what to expect when it comes to late payments from your distributer. Lastly, the book discussed where to and the benefits of marketing and advertising your book once it is published. In addition, she gave visual examples of how you can add documents inside of your book for marketing/advertising purposes, such as a book order form (which would be placed in the back of the book). One of the highlights of this book was the amount of resources that were given, as well as how to find more information about these resources on the internet. This book was informative and definitely one to put on the shelf, as it had helpful tips that one could revert back to when needed.
