I Make My Own Rules by LL Cool J / 234 pages. Read in 7 days

This is a very good book for all those who aspire to be actors with the fame and fortune. This book was not only a wakeup call to LL Cool J but also to those who have not been able to see him beyond his success. LL Cool J tells us in this read that he wanted to use this book as a platform to heal himself emotionally and spiritually. He wanted to share his story as therapy for him and for those who want to be just like him. As we all know, LL Cool J stands for Ladies Love Cool James. This has been his trademark name since the beginning of his time. Growing up all we knew was LL Cool J, the guy with the sexy big lips that he always enjoyed licking in the public eye. His real name is James Todd Smith, who is a father and husband. In this book, James aka LL Cool J reveals his story of being abused and how he has struggled with getting over this for years now but has finally reached that place where he could get this off his chest and share it with others who are also victims of abuse. He opened up the book with saying this book can be for anyone of all ages and different circumstances besides abuse, he dedicated this book to those who have been misunderstood in the hip hop community, the poor, incarcerated, other races, and youth who face struggles on a daily basis. LL Cool J goes deep in this novel, discussing his family experiences now and growing up, his experiences and prank times on the set of In the House, his touring on the road with his friends and his father who actually got arrested during that time. He also shared how he was partying it up and having the time of his life with a million dollars in the bank and a 15,000 ring that spelled out LL Cool J. That was one of the flyest things about him that everyone remembers from back in the day. In this book he also shares images of his mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, children, wife & their wedding ceremony, him with Run from DMC (not Reverend Run back then), Cut Creator, the former New York Mayor, Quincy Jones, President Clinton, and his mentor Charles Fisher. At the end of the book you can review lyrics from his album “Phenomenon”. This is another great autobiography from one of the best rappers of all times!
