DRIVEN: When You Can’t Take Anything Else by Kashamba Williams / 237 pages. Read in 32 days

Marv was your average hustler, with the hoop ride, the chicks, and the main girl he called wifey. Loretta wasn’t just his main girl, she was his partner, confident, and baby momma, basically to Marv, she was his everything! Marv did all the things the average hustler and player did, cheated, pimped, smoked, and drank, however he didn’t do what an average sucker would do, and that’s lie about any of it. Three months after the birth of his son (Nasir), Marv wanted to be known for something other than a hustler and player, he even decided to give up his drug career but decided it would take place after his last run. In agreement, Marv and Lorretta did the last run like they always do Bonnie and Clyde style, but somehow they get separated. Lorretta ends up behind bars for 18 years. Marv ends up loosing his mind until he is laid to rest for good at the fate of Lorretta’s brother. Nasir who turns out to be just like his dad (Marv), the average player and hustler in the same streets, on the same block, even begins creeping with one of the same women his dad had been with 18 years ago. His true love Farren has no idea that this woman is her ex boyfriend’s mother, and the same woman Loretta caught Marv in bed with years ago.
