A Real Goon’s Bible by Derrick Johnson / 198 pages. Read in 5 days

Fast Eddie thought he was on top of everything, his money, his family, his street hustle, and his 2-4 mob, until fate brought him some jail time. After a casual drug pick up with Chubb from the H-O-P, Fast Eddie was pulled over by the Milwaukie PD. It started out with questions for a license and registration from Eddie, but soon turned into an arrest for three keys of cocaine. Fast Eddie knew the stop was some bull but what can he do besides alert his lawyer and call his wife, Fatima. Knowing the rules of the arrest game, Eddie stood his ground by not talking to the cops about anything until he had a lawyer. Although on top of everything Fast Eddie felt disappointed at his situation because he didn’t prepare his 2-4 mob for any of this. He knew in his heart it was a set up and he vowed to make Chubb pay for it, no if, ands, or buts about it. With no one left but his home boy Say No to run the mob, he sends instructions from his Mistress and ride or die chick, Shells to have him take over the 2-4 mob. Fast Eddie’s homie, lover, and friend, Shells is the only female of the 2-4 mob and is known for popping 20 shells each round in one body. On the other hand, Say No not expecting to be put to the test as the HNIC this early in the game knows he really doesn’t get a choice. Say No has been well groomed for this position, whether he believes it or not and has to do what he can to make sure plans go just as Fast Eddie wants them too. First order of business is to take out the entire H-O-P mob for the set up and from there to keep taking out crews until they know 2-4 mob is back to stay. However, throughout the process some of the most important people closest to Fast Eddie loose their lives too. Will it be Fatima or Shells that ends up with their wig split in half or other members of the 2-4 mob.

  1. I didnt like this book. The story line was okay and the plot was fine. But I guess for an avid reader, it didnt have enough twists and turns for me. I would have loved to read about how Fast Eddie got his rise and how he met the crew, how they were all put together. Why did Chubb decide to set him up, I mean they were from rival areas, yes, but if they were all getting money, what was the problem. You didnt know Chubb was the one to set him up until after the crew ran up on him. This book to me was basic and a starter book for those who haven't began to read "Street" Novels. Compared to others, this book was jsut basic. It was the first that I've read from the other, so I suppose I'll give him another chance.
