Fail Up by Tavis Smiley / 263 pages
This
little guide is a short read for those who want to learn 20 quick lessons on
how to build success from failed experiences. He notates throughout the book
valuable lessons he learned from his own failed experiences, including those
that took place in his personal and professional relationships. His chapter
titles range from discussing how Cheaters Never Win, Do Your Homework, A Pink
Slip Can Fire You Up, Save Space For Grace, Keep It Tight, Get Ready To Be
Ready, Power vs. Principle, and When Everybody Turns Against You”. One favorite
title was: “Loose Lips Can Sink Ships”, which he explained as learning how to
mind your own business. He quoted at the end of that chapter “There are 24
hours in a day—12 hours to mind your own business and 12 to leave other folks’
business alone”. There is something everyone can take from that message!
