The Fat Smash Diet by Ian K. Smith, M.D. / 159 pages. Read over diet period

This book was such a great read for any dieters. It has four phases that are deem to help you shed unwanted weight. The downfall is that you have to be motivated and determined to stick to the timeline for each phase. The first chapter of the book explains the philosophy of dieting. Each phase has different meal plans and they vary in length. For example, the first phase is titled “Phase I: Detox” and it lasts approximately nine days. The book include several ways to kick start this detox naturally with a sample schedule and several food plans. The second phase is titled “Phase II: Foundation” and it lasts three weeks. This phase is where you begin to incorporate fruits and vegetables back into your diet. The third phase is titled “Construction” and it lasts four weeks. This phase allow the dieter to add more variety back into their healthy diet by constructing food plans that include your favorite foods but in moderation. The fourth phase is titled “Phase IV: The Temple” and it lasts indefinitely. Dr. Ian Smith states that it lasts “for life” but what he really means is that it lasts because this is the phase where you make the routine of good habits that you built in the last few phases stick forever. The book also includes more food plans in each phase, sample work-out schedules, and several food items one should not include in each phase. Printing these pages out can be great reminders to be placed on the fridge while dieting. What I love so much about this diet is that no matter where you get stuck in your diet or the phases, you can always take it one step back to the previous phase where you were successful. You can always check yourself and move backwards if you need too. The Fat Smash Diet is a program that should be completed over 90 days. You cannot go wrong with trying this diet out. There will be at least one thing you love about the diet no matter what. Like Dr. Ian Smith says in the book “At the end of the 90days, you will have made small but important adjustments not only in your food consumption, but in your understanding and attitude towards food and the way you view the role of physical activity in maintaining a healthy life”(pg. 13). This book is about learning how to become a better person in what you eat and how you maintain physically.
